ANNUAL WHIT WALK
AND FIRST HOLY COMMUNICANTS
WALK OF WITNESS

As is tradition, those children who made their First Holy Communion this year are invited
to lead the annual Walk of Witness taking place Monday 27 May.
Children are invited to wear their communion dresses/suits and meet in the
Parish Centre car park at 9.30am, from where they will be escorted by a catechist to the Town Hall
to lead the procession. Everyone is welcome to attend the walk, which leaves the town hall
at 9.45am. This year’s theme is The Servant King and walkers are encouraged to wear
yellow and orange.


SUMMER FAIR DONATIONS
AND VOLUNTEER INFO

This year our Summer Fair will be on 22 June in the Parish Centre and garden
at the Church of the Annunciation.

Each week leading up to the Summer Fair we will be asking for donations to particular stalls.

Donations can be left in the Narthex at the Church of the Annunciation,
or at the back of the Church at Holy Family.

SONGS OF PRAISE

This annual event for Chesterfield takes place this year at the Church of the Annunciation,
on Saturday 1 June, at 7.00pm. The singing is led by the combined choirs of the Annunciation,
and Central Methodist, with volunteers from other Churches who have joined us
for this united service. There will be a rehearsal for singers at 7.30pm on Friday 24 May
at Central Methodist Church, and a final rehearsal at 7.30pm on Friday 31 May at Annunciation.
It promises to be a great occasion in our newly restored Church with our newly restored organ.


RCIA
JOURNEY IN FAITH 2020

Applicants are now invited for the 2019/2020 RCIA course.
Anybody considering becoming a Catholic, wanting to know more about Catholicism,
or even practicing Catholics wanting to know more about their own faith are welcome
to fill out an application form, which can be collected from the Sacristies of our churches.


FATHER ADRIAN’S
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Fr Adrian would like to invite you to celebrate with him his 50th Birthday,
on Friday 19 July.
In order to ascertain catering numbers please collect an RSVP card from
one of the Sacristies and return it by the date given.


EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS
OF HOLY COMMUNION

New or existing ministers who did not complete the training day
which was held on 19 January must take part in the next training day
taking place at the Church of the Annunciation on Saturday 13 July,
beginning at 10.00am in the Parish Library.

This is very important as it also involves Safeguarding Procedures.


CHILDREN’S LITURGY

Children’s Liturgy will continue during the 10.00am Mass at Church of the Annunciation,
from 2 June - 14 July with the exception of 16 June, for all Primary School children.

There will be Children’s Liturgy on Sundays 5 and 12 of May for the
younger children’s group only.


RHS CHATSWORTH FLOWER SHOW

An outing to the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show at Chatsworth is taking place
on Thursday 6 June 2019. A community transport bus will be leaving Cross St
at 10.00am and leaving the show at 4.00pm.
Cost for entrance and transport is £36 and must be made before 5 January.

JUMBLE SALE

The next Jumble Sale will take place in the Church of the Annunciation Parish Centre
on Saturday 8 June. As always, your unwanted clothes, shoes, toys and bric-a-brac are needed.

MUSICWORK SUMMER CONCERT

Musicwork Vocal Ensemble will once again visit the Church of the Annunciation
on Saturday 8 June. The concert will feature choral and organ repertoire,
with guest organists.

The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets are available on the door.


NOVENA TO OUR LADY
OF PERPETUAL SUCCOUR

The Novena this year will begin Tuesday 18 June, nine days before the feast of
Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, and take place every evening at 7.00pm
with the exception of Saturday when it will be at 10.30am following the morning Mass,
and Sunday when it will be at 12 noon following the 11.00am Mass.

The Novena will be centred around the spiritual readings of the Gospel according to Saint Mark.


Mary’s Meals Fundraiser
AT HOLY FAMILY

On 22 June there will be a Summer fundraising event for Mary’s Meals at Holy Family.
This is not to be confused with our annual Parish Fair (see above).


UPENDO CHILDREN’S HOME
BAKE SALE

At the Church of the Annunciation Parish Hall, on June 23.
Please bake something and bring it along on the day, from 7.45am onwards.
Or simply come along, buy something tasty, and/or leave a donation.

Most of all please remember the children
and the Sisters in your prayers.

BOOK SALE

The next Book Sale in the Church of the Annunciation Parish Centre will take place
over the weekend of 29/30 June. We welcome all donations of books, CDs and DVDs.
Please bring these to the Parish Centre or the Parish Office.


2019 DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE
TO LOURDES
30 JUNE – 5 JULY  

Booking forms are now available for the 2019 pilgrimage led by Rt. Rev. Bishop Ralph.
Full board, travelling by charter flight direct from Doncaster Airport.
Pilgrims who need medical support or assistance with mobility are very welcome.
Volunteer helpers are needed especially doctors and nurses.
Places are limited this year so please book as early as possible.

TUESDAY CLUB HELP NEEDED

After year upon year of dedicated service, Joe and Jean McElvaney have decided that
it is time to hand the reigns of the Tuesday over 60s Club to someone new.  

If you are interested please speak to Fr Adrian.


READERS AND OFFERTORY PROCESSION

There is a great shortage of volunteers - individuals or families - for the Offertory Procession
at all Masses especially 6.00pm. Please consider participating in this important ministry.
The more there are the less often your turn comes around.


ANNUNCIATION MUSIC MINISTRY

Please consider joining our music ministry at the Church of the Annunciation.
The music is now identical for both the 9.30am and 11.00am Mass
and we perform in a range of different styles, led by three different musicians on rotation,
who each bring their own styles and expertise with them.  

We rehearse on a Thursday evening at 7.30pm in the church,
and would really like new members, both to sing and/or play an instrument. 


CHURCH CLEANERS URGENTLY NEEDED

Our lovely church requires a lot of maintenance.
If you can spare some time to help with the cleaning please see one of our priests.

MEDJUGORJE PILGRIMAGES 2019

The dates for the 2019 pilgrimages to Medjugorje are 9 June for 7 nights half board
(flying from East Midlands Airport) at a cost of £585 per person, and 5 October for 7 nights
half board (flying from Leeds/Bradford Airport) at a cost of £579 per person.
For both pilgrimages, the single room supplement is £130pp and travel insurance £30pp.
Please note that if you pay the deposits for either/both pilgrimages before 31 January 2019,
there is an incentive of £30.
