ORGAN OUT... CLEANERS IN

Our beautiful ‘Father Willis’ organ which is of significant historical importance
will be removed at the end of this month ahead of major refurbishment works
and will be back in place ready for Holy Week and Easter in April.

The week of 28 January – 1 February will see the main body of the organ’s internal parts
being dismantled and removed, thus disturbing over 25 years of dirt and grime!
Therefore, we need a huge team to help clean the church on the
evening of Friday 1 February from 7.00pm.

Please come armed with dusters, cloths and buckets!

Also note as a result there will be no First Friday Mass that evening.

Did you know that volunteers in our kitchen and café gave around
371 hours in August and accounted for 30% of all volunteer hours?
Or that volunteers who act as greeters at the door gave 100 hours

and welcoming clients, visitors, volunteers and staff to the centre?

We have 138 volunteers and their average age is 58.
By volunteering with St Wilfrid’s Centre you will be helping
to support homeless, vulnerable and socially excluded adults.
We are always looking for new volunteers in our many different roles.

We especially need door greeters (Monday afternoon)

Afternoon café volunteers are also needed, and wood-workshop helpers.
We offer training, support and pay travel expenses.
